Weight Loss and weight management can also be traced back to bad sleep patterns amongst other causes; it’s all about balance!

Insomnia can also be affecting  body ‘Management’ if you are trying to lose weight and not achieving it – your sleep patterns could well be contributing to it! Anxiety

, your job and working hours and winding down, alcohol or drugs, lack of planning and even clutter (including mental as well as messy bedrooms!) can stop you from obtaining quality and prolonged sleep. If you are experiencing disturbed sleep patterns regularly this could be negatively contributing to your body weight retention.

health-success lifestyle

We need balance, both light – daylight and the darkness to stimulate sleep hormones, to maintain health and in a regular pattern to signal the body’s glands to produce the necessary hormones, create delta waves and relax the body preparing it for sleep.

Light and Darkness affect moods, sexuality, fertility, immunity, metabolism and more…including your weight loss attempts or successes.

Exposure to light helps us produce Serotonin and when the light begins to dim we produce melatonin. Melatonin is an important hormone that controls your body clock and biorhythms. It can affect fertility, blood pressure, is a powerful antioxidant and helps to boost immunity. It is believed that if you retain a good level of melatonin you can help prevent cancers, premature heart attacks and even premature ageing!

By exposing yourself to enough bright sunlight — you boost your metabolism — essential for regulating a healthy body. If you don’t get enough sleep your metabolism suffers!

If you feel sleepy at work, you are more likely to reach for caffeine drinks which have been linked to increased cellulite (although caffeine in body products directly on stubborn areas of cellulite is said to boost blood flow in the area and the removal of toxins).

Two other important hormones Leptin and Ghrelin are also key factors in sleep/weight patterns. We produce less Leptin when we are deprived of sleep and this is a hormone that tells us when to stop eating. However Ghrelin tells us to eat and we will have more gherkin when we have less sleep — so we eat more!
